This worksheet helps identify the portion of fund income attributable to qualifying U.S. government obligations. Federal law generally prevents states from taxing interest on certain U.S. government obligations1, although state rules and reporting requirements vary.
The calculator uses the fund company’s reported government-obligation percentage when available. When a fund reports only component-level data, the calculator uses the generally qualifying components by default.
